    There are few ways to better grasp what occurred during our Nation's four year struggle than by living the experience through the words of those who were there. On the following pages are only a minute portion of the recollections, comments, and memories offered by the participants of this epic conflict. Each allows you a glimpse into their world not so far removed. Be cautioned however that any window, no matter how clear, offers only a limited view. The context of each quote, which cannot be relayed here, is equally if not more important as what you can read within.
